Sweetie has been following Belle into heat pretty consistantly. Because of this I expect Belle to heat first and then a few days later, Sweetie will heat. This will be her first litter, but we are expecting to have a good amount of fun! If her puppies fail to be like her I will be dissapointed! Not really, but I have my hopes. Adoption Process

If you have questions feel free to contact me. Anyone whom I have met, in person, that would like to be informed of an upcoming birth may be added to a waiting list without a deposit. I allow one person to claim pick of the litter with a deposit. When the litter is born I will call, at a decent hour, and announce the good news (unless you are so excited you must know in the middle of the night!). Pictures can be emailed, upon request. As soon as the litter and mother are ready appointments can be made to see the litter.

If you have children I insist upon meeting them if possible, but I will suggest it is easier to choose the right puppy if your children are not present. If you feel they will not push you in your purchase they are most welcome in my home. Puppies cannot be touched until I feel they are ready. Deposits are necessary to hold a puppy from other buyers and owners are expected to visit often, if possible. Family members or friends are welcome with advanced notice. Release of a puppy is discussed at nine weeks.

If frequent trips are impossible please make the situation known. I am aware in some states it is hard to find puppies and special cases do come into play. I am also aware that age and transportation may create special circumstances. In such cases I will discuss my coming to you. If you live in Florida, I require that you come to me. Florida law makes the sale of puppies within the state dangerous for the puppy and myself. Please forgive the inconvenience, but I cannot protect my puppies' health or myself the way the law was written. If you would like a copy, please ask, I will be happy to send one. For clarification or questions please do not hesitate to ask.

There is one rule for which there will be NO EXCEPTIONS. Shipping is not an option under any circumstances. I realize that many breeders who claim a higher standard than I ship their puppies, but I assure all, this does not change my position.

SPECIAL NOTE: Many parents like to buy puppies as presents for their children and often as a surprise. It is unlikely a child under 18 will realize the responsibility of a high maintenance pet and more unlikely they will have time to meet a Shih Tzu's needs. Most children are unable to take their dog when they leave for college or the armed forces and the separation can be devastating for a dog. Please understand a Shih Tzu puppy will be your responsibility and your children only helping when they can. If your child is an exception please tell me and I will be happy to discuss the situation.

I also want to adress the common demand for puppies as presents for older family and friends. I absolutely will not allow any of my puppies to leave my home without meeting the new owner in one way or another. The best dog/owner companionship comes when the new owner chooses a puppy or dog they have bonded with. They cannot be nearly as happy with a dog that you have bonded with and giving puppies as surprise gifts is one of the main reasons these and other sweet animals end up abused and in shelters. Please do not add to the overpopulation because you have the "Lady and the Tramp" mentality. It may be cute in the movies, but not in reality.
